It’s a Barnyard Baby Boom!

It’s been a busy year for babies here at the Barnyard and we couldn’t be more thrilled. All 3 mom’s were rescued from the slaughter pipeline. Apple the Appaloosa, had been a broodmare, she had never been able to keep her babies but she doesn’t ever have to worry about that again. She and her sweet baby will be together forever.

As our regular readers know, it all started on New Year’s day when our Riviera had her baby, a beautiful, long legged boy! We had been waiting and waiting and then it finally happened. Riviera was so protective we couldn’t see whether it was a boy or girl for several days. His name, picked out by our followers, is Wapi Uno. Wapi is American Indian for lucky and uno is one in Spanish, he sure is a Lucky One.

And then came Apple’s Blossom! On February 19th after being at the hospital for over 5 weeks our beautiful Apple had a baby girl. Apple’s pregnancy and delivery were making everyone anxious as she had an infection that could be dangerous to the foal and to her, but she beat it and mom and baby are doing just great!

And then there were 3. Our jenny Chloe surprised all of us on February 22nd with a handsome baby boy! We had no idea she was pregnant but had noticed she was looking a bit plump. His name Sorpresa, meaning “unexpected gift” in Spanish is what he is, an unexpected gift. He is adorable and she is a wonderful mom.

Chill’n with Mom.

Moms and babies are all doing great and will have the pleasure of being able to spend the rest of their lives together as family without the fear of being separated. All the babies are in need of a sponsor, a monthly guardian who contributes money to help pay for their care, food and medical bills. If you are interested please visit our website. All donations are tax-deductible as we are a 501(c)3. And if you are looking for a birthday gift for the animal lover in your life, a Sponsorship makes a great gift!

Our donkey, Riviera seems to have been pregnant forever…but all that changed on New Years day at 8:00am when she finally had her baby! A sweet, wobbly little donkey with huge ears and long legs. Mom was so protective that we couldn’t get close enough to tell if it was a boy or girl for almost a week. Well, it’s a boy but no name yet…
