Mission Accomplished: 3 Barnyard Residents go to their Forever Home!

“The Barnyard Sanctuary’s mission is to find a new home for displaced farm pets that have become homeless due to the financial, social, economical or physical well being of their current caregivers.”

That is exactly what happened this past Tuesday. And who was the adopter?…Me! I fell in love with Dominic the first time I saw him. If you’re a regular reader of this blog then you know that my husband I have been his sponsor since he has been at The Barnyard, with hopes of adopting him someday. Unfortunately we just don’t have enough room for a mini-donkey, his girlfriend and his girlfriends mom. Dominic is a package deal. While at The Barnyard he bonded with mini-horse Natane’ who was born at The Barnyard and will never be separated from her mother, Starbright. Well, as fate would have it my husband found a notice in our local deli for “rough board available”. I called and it was meant to be, it is perfect for them. A big beautiful barn, 2 fenced paddocks in a quiet setting just 5 minutes from our house.

When Tamala pulled up with the trailer I couldn’t help but cry. Tears of happiness for a dream come true! Dominic and his ladies are so happy to have their own place with lots of green grass to eat and fields to run in. We are thrilled to have them as part of our family. We now have 15 animal babies….4 goats, 3 rabbits, 2 min-horses, 2 cats, 2 ducks, 1 mini-donkey and 1 dog.

I will continue to volunteer at The Barnyard and we will sponsor another animal. I am just so happy to be a part of such an amazing organization that has changed my life in so many ways-all good!

Our total number of family members that have come from The Barnyard is now at 10…to be continued.

Our donkey, Riviera seems to have been pregnant forever…but all that changed on New Years day at 8:00am when she finally had her baby! A sweet, wobbly little donkey with huge ears and long legs. Mom was so protective that we couldn’t get close enough to tell if it was a boy or girl for almost a week. Well, it’s a boy but no name yet…

Mom Riviera was rescued from slaughter last year along with the baby’s dad who is also at The Barnyard. Mom and baby are doing great; he is silly, happy and healthy and she is a wonderful mother!

To watch him grow up follow along with The Barnyard on our Facebook page and Instagram. Feel free to give us name suggestions and if you would like to be his monthly sponsor please visit our website.

The Barnyard wishes everyone a happy, healthy New Year filled with love and animal cuddles!
